EQUIPMENT OPERATORS

Lead Equipment Operator - Recycling Center ($36K-$57K). Non-exempt, union position. Operate front-end loaders, bulldozers, compactors, and various equipment associated with the recycling center operation. Provide leadership and direct a staff consisting of laborers and equipment operators in their duties as they pertain to the recycling center operations. Ensure processing floor materials are separated properly. Inspect incoming loads for contamination and unacceptable materials. Perform material handling, sorting, baling, vehicle maintenance and cleaning, and general maintenance of buildings and grounds. Perform general site clean up and equipment maintenance. Perform regular cleaning, preventative maintenance, greasing, lubing, visual inspection, and fluid level and hydraulic inspections. Requirements: 6 years documented heavy equipment operating experience; leadership ability, preferred; 2 years management experience; commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B with air brakes, preferred.

Lead Equipment Operator - Landfill ($36K-$57K). Non-exempt, union position. Operate front-end loaders, bulldozers, compactors, and various equipment associated with the landfill operation. Provide leadership and direct a staff consisting of laborers, dump truck drivers, and equipment operators in their duties as they pertain to landfill operations. Direct the cover operation, when to start, where to place the cover and how much is required and is responsible for ensuring that cover is completed properly in accordance with permit requirements. Direct the proper construction, placement and covering of the asbestos disposal area. Comply with all Federal, State, and Local permits and safety requirements. Prepare the daily report for the site. Accompany the NJDEP Inspector while on-site and provide the information required. Operate equipment to maximize waste compaction. Requirements: 6 years documented heavy equipment operating experience; leadership ability, preferred; 2 years management experience; commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B with air brakes.

Equipment Operator II - ($30K-$50K). Non-exempt, union position. Ensure safe operation of frontend loaders, back hoe, skid loaders, bulldozers, compactors and various equipment associated with the solid waste operations facilities. Ensure processing floor materials are separated properly. Inspects incoming loads for contamination and unacceptable materials. Perform material handling,sorting, baling, vehicle maintenance and cleaning, and general maintenance of buildings and grounds. Perform general site clean up and equipment maintenance. Perform regular cleaning, preventative maintenance, greasing, lubing, visual inspection, and fluid level and hydraulic i nspections. Requirements: 4 years documented heavy equipment operating experience.

Equipment Operator I - Recycling Center ($25K-$45K). Non-exempt, union position. Ensure safe and proper operation of skid loaders, forklifts, and various equipment associated with the solid waste operations facilities. Ensure safe and proper operation of a Mosley paper baler, Balemaster plastic baler, and tin/aluminum densifers. Process bales of paper, cardboard, and plastic. Ensure processing floor materials are separated properly. Inspect incoming loads for contamination and unacceptable materials. Perform general site clean up and equipment maintenance. Perform regular cleaning, preventative maintenance, greasing, lubing, visual inspection, and fluid level and hydraulic inspections. Requirements: 2 years documented heavy equipment operating experience.

MECHANICS

Lead Mechanic - ($35K-$55K). Non-exempt, union position. Provide leadership to a staff of five mechanics and to professionally interact with internal and external customers. Schedule and maintain the entire fleet (gasoline and diesel), i.e. auto, pickups, recycling trucks, and all heavy equipment. Responsibilities include ordering parts, diagnosis of problems, repairs and record keeping. Maintain all solid waste and recycling facilities. Work will involve repairing and replacing conveyor lines, balers, densifiers, rollers, belts, bearings, shafts, etc. Repair electrical malfunctions of a minor nature. Test and troubleshoot for electrical repairs. Manage and prepare accurate computerized records for each job assignment, vehicle maintenance history and parts inventory. Ensure a safe working environment in compliance with all appropriate safety regulations. Ensure that the fleet is clean and that preventative maintenance is preformed on a timely basis, as required. Prioritize work orders to reduce and/or eliminate downtime and to ensure that the fleet is available for use each day. Requirements: 6 years mechanical experience to include gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic training; knowledge and technical skills in gas welding, incl: mig and stick welding and fabrication of aluminum steel; leadership ability, preferred; 2 years management experience; computer skills; ability to interpret and work from sketches and diagrams; commercial driver's license (CDL), preferred.

Mechanic III - ($30K - $50K). Non-exempt, union position. Perform efficiently and safely as a senior member of the maintenance staff with adequate experience in providing maintenance on a variety of equipment. Maintains the entire fleet (gasoline and diesel), i.e. auto, pickups, recycling trucks, and all heavy equipment. Responsibilities include ordering parts, diagnosis of problems, repairs and record keeping. Maintain all solid waste and recycling facilities. Work will involve repairing and replacing conveyor lines, balers, densifiers, rollers, belts, bearings, shafts, etc. Repairs electrical malfunctions of a minor nature. Test and troubleshoot for electrical repairs. Manage and prepare accurate computerized records for each job assignment, vehicle maintenance history and parts inventory. Ensure a safe working environment with compliance with all appropriate safety regulations. Cleans and washes equipment and machinery. Perform routine lube, oil, filter changes and all related vehicle maintenance servicing and problems including engine, transmission and minor body repair. Requirements: 6 years mechanical experience to include gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic training; knowledge and technical skills in gas welding, incl: mig and stick welding and fabrication of aluminum steel; computer skills; ability to interpret and work from sketches and diagrams; commercial driver's license (CDL), preferred.

Mechanic II - ($29K-$49K). Non-exempt, union position. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of all ACUA vehicles and building equipment. To ensure a safe working environment with compliance with all ACUA safety regulations. Assist Mechanic III, if necessary, with diesel related mechanical problems. Analyze and troubleshoot all mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems malfunctions. Establish a continuation of service schedules and records. Clean and wash equipment and machinery as necessary. Perform routine lube, oil, filter changes and all related vehicle maintenance problems including engine and transmission and minor body repair. Perform machinist functions such as drilling, cutting, grinding, filing and band sawing. Assist with maintaining and repairing all park facility machinery and equipment to run effectively. Requirements: 4 years mechanical experience; ability to read and comprehend automotive, electrical, and mechanical diagrams; computer skills, preferred; working knowledge of welding.

Mechanic I - ($27K-$46K). Non-exempt, union position. As directed, perform maintenance of vehicles, building & equipment. Includes, but is not limited to, shop clean up, oil & filter changes, fueling equipment, diagnosing problems, tire repair, etc. Responsible for proper & safe operations of all assigned equipment, including monitoring of equipment maintenance. Perform painting, interior maintenance, & general maintenance of the buildings at the Environmental Park. Maintain all lawns, landscaping & roads at the Environmental Park. Requirements: 2 years work related experience.

MAINTENANCE PERSON

Maintenance Person - ($22K-$42K). Non-exempt, union position. Maintain all restrooms, lunchrooms, office areas, etc. by dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, washing and waxing floors, empty trash cans, wiping down walls, cleaning windows, stocking items (tissue, hand towels, etc.). Report supply orders to supervisor. Perform landscaping duties as directed such as operating lawn mowers and weed whackers, pulling weeds, trimming trees and shrubs, planting flowers, mulching, etc. Perform plumbing and carpentry work as needed. Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment such as vacuums, lawn mowers, weed whackers, chain saws, etc. Help install and repair sprinkler systems, drains and pipes. Move, carry and transport furniture, gravel, sand and lumber for various jobs. Responsible for the safe and proper operation of all assigned equipment, keeping the equipment and shop area in a neat and orderly fashion. Requirements: Must have a working knowledge of power and air tools such as circular saws, jig saws, drill press, etc.; previous interior/grounds maintenance experience, preferred.

GENERAL LABORER

General Laborer - ($19K - $38K). Non-exempt, union position. Assist the Inspector with inspecting incoming waste for proper waste classification. Direct haulers to designated disposal area. General duties to include cleaning grounds at the transfer station, landfill, recycling center and/or compost sites. Operate dump truck, front end loaders, sweeper and tank truck. Perform minor equipment maintenance on trucks, sweeper, loaders and various small equipment. Take direction from SW management staff and lead equipment operators.

DRIVERS

Recycling Vehicle Driver - Recycling Center - ($27K-$47K). Non-exempt, union position. Pick up, haul, and deliver recycling materials. Ensure proper and safe use of all assigned equipment, including monitoring the maintenance and condition of the trucks. Identify unacceptable and properly flagged materials. Load material on vehicles in a safe manner to avoid losing material. Leave area after collecting materials clean. Take all appropriate material. Perform visual assessment that materials collected meet specifications. Properly return empty recycling containers. Supervise/direct handlers assigned to vehicle. Maintain drivers log, reports, and other forms as required. Provide other duties as directed, including dumping trucks, sorting and baling, vehicle cleaning and maintenance, and general maintenance of ACUA buildings and grounds. Requirements: previous truck driving experience with a minimum 6000lbs gross weight; competent map reading skills; supervisory experience, preferred; commercial driver's license (CDL), Class B with air brake endorsement.

Driver - Landfill - ($27K-$47K). Non-exempt, union position. Haul material in roll off cans and/or tractor trailers. Materials includes Waste Types 10 and 13 from the Transfer Station to Landfill and recyclable material from Transfer Station destined for markets, cover material for Landfill, contaminated loads at Compost and mixed cullet from Recycling Center. Load roll off cans with Front End Loader, if operator is unavailable. Drive Tank and Dump trucks and perform duties associated with this equipment. Inspect waste and/or perform laborer duties at either Transfer Station or Landfill and assist covering of trash at end of shift. Responsible for safe and proper operation of all assigned equipment including monitoring of machine maintenance. Requirements: previous truck driving and equipment operating experience; commercial driver's license (CDL), Class B with air brake endorsement.

TEMPORARY HANDLER - Entry Level Position

Temporary Road Handler - ($9per hour). This is a 6 months, 40 hours a week position. No benefits are associated with position. Collect waste materials from homes, businesses, and drop-off centers. Load material on vehicles in a safe manner to avoid losing material. Leave area after collecting materials clean. Take all appropriate material. Perform visual assessment that materials collected meet specifications. Properly return empty recycling containers.
