CD DVD Recycling

So much of our information, music and movies are stored on CDs and DVDs that it's no wonder we need an alternative to throwing them in the trash.

Recycle CDs and DVDs at the ACUA
The ACUA is pleased to be able to offer a local recycling option for these historically hard to recycle items. Both CDs and DVDs and their cases, as well as a host of other plastic items can be brought to the ACUA's Rigid Plastic Drop-Off, located within the ACUA Environmental Park at 6700 Delilah Rd. in Egg Harbor Twp.

Recycle CDs and DVDs at your local Best Buy Store
Live near a Best Buy store? You're in luck! Best Buy has a drop off box inside the store where you can drop off CDs, DVDs, and floppy disks (remember those?)

CD DVD Recycling Facts
courtesy of Back Through the Future Technology Disposal:

• A cd/dvd is considered a class 7 recyclable plastic

• To manufacture a pound of plastic (30 CDs per pound), requires:
300 cubic ft. of natural gas, 2 cups of crude oil and 24 gallons of water

• It's estimated that AOL alone has distributed more than 2 billion CDs.
That's the natural gas equivalent of heating 200,000 homes for 1 year

• It is estimated that it will take over 1 million years for a CD to completely decompose in a landfill
