The Assemblyman and Commissioner seek to promote recycling in advance of World Environment Day on June 5
Assemblyman John Amodeo, Atlantic County, District 2 and Margate Commissioner Dan Campbell will join the effort to green Margate on Thursday, June 3 as they hit the streets on the back of an ACUA recycling truck and help with recycling collections.
“We cannot think of a better way to reinforce the importance of recycling,” said Assemblyman Amodeo. “The busy summer season has begun and we want to be sure that residents and visitors do not take a vacation from recycling,” he said.
“Margate is a leader in recycling,” said Margate Commissioner Dan Campbell. “We want residents to know how much we appreciate their efforts and how important recycling is to the environment,” he said.
Both the Assemblyman and Commissioner Campbell will meet at the Margate Public Works Department (Decatur and Winchester Avenues) on Thursday, June 3 at 11:30 a.m. After a brief safety overview, the pair will work to collect recyclables from residents in Margate.
The recycling collection vehicle will be one of the ACUA’s new Compressed Natural Gas trucks. “We’re excited to have theopportunity to work on this truck. Natural gas vehicles are better for the environment,” said the assemblyman. “Not only is the fuel source domestic and cheaper than petroleum based fuels, but the noxious emissions are greatly reduced as compared to a typical diesel truck.”
“World Environment Day is about celebrating positive action for the environment,” said Rick Dovey, ACUA President, “Recycling is an easy way for residents to make a difference, and ACUA’s new CNG trucks reduce emissions for cleaner air."
