Poetry Trail

ACUA Poetry Trail.smallNestled among the ACUA's 360-acre Environmental Park in Egg Harbor Township is a poetry trail. The poetry trail is located adjacent to the ACUA's playground, picnic area and community garden.

The poetry trail is approximately a quarter-mile in length and winds through a wooded section of the Environmental Park. The vegetation is native and features an interesting cross-section of deciduous and coniferous species.

Another feature of the poetry trail is an amphitheater made of recycled plastic lumber that visitors can use to discuss the day's activities.

The trail itself is lined with more than 28 poems and passages. Some of the featured poets and authors include Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, Helen Keller, T.S. Eliot and Dylan Thomas, just to name a few.

The poetry trail is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and on Saturdays from 7:00 to 12:00 noon.

School groups and visitors of all ages are encouraged to visit the poetry trail as part of their Environmental Park tour.

A mailbox at the entrance of the trail is stocked with guides that list each poem and passage in its entirety. Click here for a copy of the poetry guide. Click here for a map of the trail.
