Located at our Wastewater Treatment Plant in Atlantic City, NJ, the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm consists of five, 380-foot turbines capable of producing a combined 7.5 megawatts of power – enough energy to power approximately 2,500 homes!
The power produced, in conjunction with our solar energy project, is used to operate the wastewater treatment plant, with any excess energy provided to the main power grid.
Opened in December 2005, the wind farm is the first in the state. As an eastern, urban, coastal, industrial, onshore, multi-turbine wind farm, it is one that is unique to the world.
Environmental and Financial Impact:
The wind farm has saved the ACUA more than $3,284,911 in energy costs since its opening, and along with our solar project, prevents an average of 8,765 metric tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere each year.
