The Master Composter Training Program is offered in partnership with the Rutgers Cooperative Extension and NJ Composting Council. Participants get an in-depth look at how to compost. Composting is a great way to turn kitchen scraps and yard waste into a nutrient rich, soil-building boost for your garden. You'll learn how it works, what you'll need to do it, and how to get the most out of your composting efforts. No prior experience is needed!
The 2025 Master Composter Class
The class will be a combination of virtual and in-person lectures, hands-on demonstrations, field trips, and opportunities to connect with the community. Participants have the opportunity to earn 20 compost-related service hours to become a Certified Atlantic County Master Composter.
The cost to participate is $60 and participants must be registered before Friday, January 31, 2025. Space is limited, please reserve your spot early. First registration priority is provided to Atlantic County Residents.
Day 1: Wednesday, February 5 - 5:30 pm – Intro class (in-person)
Day 2: Wednesday, February 19 5:30 pm – Soil and Compost (virtual)
Day 3: Saturday, February 22 - 9 am to 2 pm – Field trip! View local composting processes (in-person)
Day 4: Wednesday, March 5 - 5:30 pm – Composting with Manure (in-person)
Day 5: Wednesday, March 19 - 5:30 pm – Vermicomposting (in-person)
Day 6: Wednesday, April 2 - 5:30 pm – Commercial Composting (virtual)
Day 7: Wednesday, April 16 - 5:30 pm – Community Composting and course wrap up (in-person)
