Each year, drivers and equipment operators from around the Mid-Atlantic region gather for the SWANA Road-E-O event that puts driving and handling skills to the test.
Collections Driver Ramon Nazario and Equipment Operator II Jonathan Santana participated in the 2022 competition held on May 12 and 13 in Elkton, MD. Solid Waste Director Gary Conover also served as a judge in the event.
Jonathan participated in the Articulated Dump Truck competition, and Ramon competed in the Roll-off Truck and Rear End Load Truck competition. Participants are judged on pre-trip inspections and behind the wheel skills tests and must safely drive the prepared obstacle courses.
Both participants did an amazing job and represented ACUA as well as the SWANA NJ Chapter with style, grace and grit!
Ramon took home 1st Place in this year’s Rear End Load Truck competition. He will now compete in the SWANA International Road-E-O to be held on October 14 -15, 2022 in El Paso, Texas.
