Nov 10, 2022

Stanley-Witherspoon.png

Stanley began his career at ACUA 11 years ago and has held various positions, such as Seasonal Laborer and Night Shift Equipment Operator as well as Landfill Gas Technician. Stanley always wanted to work at the Wastewater Facility and most recently took on the role as Systems Operator Mechanic I.

In his daily work, he checks and maintains pumping stations, performs preventative maintenance on fluids, belts, and cleans wet wells. Stanley has become familiar with the various pump stations serviced by ACUA and can help anticipate areas that need attention and focus preventative maintenance depending on station age, flow, time of year, and location.

“Pump stations are like kids – they all have their own personality.”

Stanley enjoys the hands-on job and the change each day.

“I’m constantly fixing, assembling, and traveling to different pumping stations.”

Stanley says he appreciates the opportunity to grow throughout the organization, his pay and overtime opportunities, which has allowed him to save money, purchase a home and pay for his wedding.

Why He Enjoys Working at ACUA

"It feels good to be helping the community at the end of the day.  If we don’t manage waste, it’s going to pile up and the sewer is going to back up. ACUA provides the opportunity to be financially stable, provides benefits for your family and paid holidays off.  At ACUA, if you’re a reliable worker, the opportunity is there.  It’s worth starting with your foot in the door because the progression with the company makes it worth it.  Of course, you have to put the work in too."
