Growing up, Patrick used to fish and jet ski nearby ACUA’s facility but didn’t think too much about the important environmental work going on behind the scenes.
Today, he serves as a Systems Operator Mechanic I at the Wastewater Treatment Facility where he contributes to that important work. Patrick is responsible for performing inspections and preventative maintenance on pump stations. This involves checking the amperage, motors, and making sure each station stays clear from debris.
“ACUA employees are the front line, whether the public realizes it or not. The whole county depends on us. We must come in every day to make sure wastewater is properly flowing.”
Patrick looks forward to achieving the next step in his level of licensing, which is C2.
Why He Likes Working for ACUA
“My department is family-oriented and values the balance between work life and family time. You don’t feel like a number here. There are a lot of opportunities to advance because employees have the opportunity for training to develop skills and find what suits you.”
