Atlantic County
Utilities Authority’s Holiday Food Drive brought in more than 21,000 pounds of
food for the Community FoodBank of NJ’s Southern Branch. Residents in Atlantic County put out bags of
canned, nonperishable items with their recycling during the first two weeks of
December. ACUA’s recycling collection
crews picked up donations during the two week drive.
ACUA’s Holiday Food Drive has been held for the past 27 years and gives
residents an easy and convenient way to help the needy while helping the environment.
All canned goods collected through the Holiday Food Drive are distributed

Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s Southern Branch distributes groceries each
week to over 300 charities throughout Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and parts
of Burlington counties. More people than ever before have been looking to the
food bank and its partner agencies for help, and the generosity of ACUA’s
recycling customers will make a difference for many people in need.
“We sincerely appreciate all of the Atlantic County residents who so generously
donated the much needed food during this year’s collection,” said ACUA
President Rick Dovey. “These donations really do make a difference in the lives
of those less fortunate,” Dovey added.
“We are extremely grateful to the ACUA and the many, many residents who
contributed to such an outstanding result, said Richard J. Uniacke, the Community Food Bank’s Southern Branch Vice
President. “It is this generosity on a local level that enables us
to continue feeding South Jersey in partnership with more than 300 agencies in
our network,” he added. “And with our total distribution almost double what it
was only two years ago, this effort is truly appreciated,” noted Uniacke.
The 21,236 pounds of food collected during 2017 ACUA food drive brings the
total amount of food collected over the past 27 years to more than 835,253
pounds.
“Myself, the ACUA collections staff and the entire organization are always
humbled by the generosity Atlantic County residents demonstrate each December
through the food drive,” said Dovey. “It is, without a doubt, one of our most
important community programs.”
