Authority Partners with Atlantic County Library System & Hamilton Mall in
2017
The Atlantic County Utilities
Authority, in partnership with the Atlantic County Library System and the
Hamilton Mall welcome entries for the 3rd Annual County-Wide Recycled Art
Contest. The contest challenges participants to use material that would be
destined for the recycling bin or trash can to create unique pieces of art. The
contest goal is to heighten everyone’s awareness and commitment to recycling,
reuse, waste and litter reduction. Submissions
can be taken to participating library branches between until Saturday, April 8,
2017.
The contest is open to
residents of Atlantic County and winners will be chosen in four age
categories: 8 and under, 9 to 12,
13 to 17 and 18 and up, as well as one group category. Entry forms and artwork must be received between March 24 and April 8
at one of the following Atlantic County Library System branches: Egg
Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Hammonton, Mays Landing, and Ventnor. Entries will be displayed at the branches until
Earth Day, Saturday, April 22. Selected
artwork from each branch will be moved to ACUA for judging and display. Winners will be announced artwork will be on
display at the ACUA’s 27th Annual Earth Day Festival on Sunday,
April 23.
“Earth Day is a lot of fun,
but it also gives us a chance to get people to think about recycling. The Art
Contest provides another avenue to reinforce the importance of recycling and
other sustainable practices,” ACUA President Dovey explained. “The contest is
open to everyone, and we’ve had some great submissions the last two years. It’s
a good opportunity for people to use their creativity and resourcefulness in a
way that raises awareness about recycling and the waste that we produce.”
All participants, along with
their families and friends, are encouraged to attend the ACUA’s Earth Day festival.
Contest winners will be acknowledged during an awards ceremony at ACUA’s
Earth Day Event at 11 a.m. at the Recycling Center. Select entries will then be
displayed at the Hamilton Mall during the month of May.
