ACUA Will Perform Trash Collection in Hamilton Township Beginning October 1

Sep 11, 2020

The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) will be the new trash hauler for Hamilton Township and perform weekly, curbside trash collection beginning Thursday, October 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my collection day change?
No. ACUA will retrieve trash on your current collection day. ACUA will continue to collect recycling biweekly on the same day as your trash collection. Collections will be adjusted for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Download a calendar or sign up to receive free reminders the night before your collection day via text, email or phone call at www.acua.com/reminders.

Do I have to use the new cart that was delivered to my home?
Yes. All residents will receive one, new 96-gallon trash cart provided by Hamilton Township.  Beginning Thursday, October 1, items should be placed in your new trash cart before 6 a.m. on your collection day, or the night before, to receive pickup. Please do not use your new carts until then. Place your trash cart at least 10 ft. apart from your recycling. Carts are the property of Hamilton Township and may not be removed from your residence or be marked with paint. Each cart comes equipped with an RFID tag that is assigned to your address. If you are interested in an additional cart, or would like to request a different size, please contact the Public Works Department at 609.625.6311.

What about my old cart?
Your previous hauler, Waste Management, will retrieve empty trash carts after their final collection in September. Please leave carts at the curb.  Do not use your new cart until after your final trash collection is completed by Waste Management in September. ACUA begins providing service on Thursday, October 1.

What is included in my trash pickup?
ACUA will collect all household trash from your curb that is contained in your cart.  ACUA will also collect up to two bulky items per trash day. This includes items such as furniture, mattresses, box springs, etc.  NO hazardous waste, electronics, metals or construction and demolition debris.  Household hazardous waste is collected during designated drop-offs throughout the year at ACUA. See www.acua.com/hhw for details. Hamilton Township Public Works accepts electronics the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Public Works Facility. Please call Public Works at 609.625.6311 to schedule a metals collection.
