The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) is working alongside emergency contractor Arthur Henry to repair a small hole recently detected in its underground sewer force main located along Route 9 between Wyoming and Lisbon Avenues in Absecon.
Repair work is expected to begin on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, and it will continue for approximately two days.
“Our team is working with our emergency contractor to swiftly repair the hole,” said ACUA President Matthew DeNafo. “Residents should be aware that the hole is not producing sewer discharge, and there is no impact on residential sewer service.”
Because the pipeline is located off the main roadway, repairs will have little impact on traffic in the area. Police will be present to direct as needed.
ACUA provides wastewater treatment service to 14 municpalities in Atlantic County, including Absecon. Sewage created from toilets, sinks, and showers within the community is transported through the force main to the ACUA wastewater treatment plant in Atlantic City. Here it undergoes treatment before being discharged to the Atlantic Ocean.
