The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) will host a free Backyard Composting workshop on Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. at the ACUA’s Environmental Park, 6700 Delilah Road, Egg Harbor Township.
The workshop will introduce participants to the basics of home composting and demonstrate how food scraps and yard waste can be transformed into a valuable, nutrient-rich soil amendment. No prior experience is necessary, and there is no cost to attend.
“Composting at home is easier than you might think! It’s a great way to reduce the amount of trash that you send to the landfill,” noted Amy Menzel, ACUA Communications Manager. “You’ll be surprised at how much of your kitchen waste can be diverted and converted into a beneficial material your plants or lawn will love,” Menzel added.
The program will begin indoors with an overview of composting fundamentals. Weather permitting, attendees will also visit ACUA's Compost Demonstration Site to see different types of compost bins and learn how the composting process works firsthand.
