The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) invites the community to join us in celebrating Waste and Recycling Workers Week.
Waste and recycling workers provide the essential services that keep our communities clean – from removing waste at the curb to managing it at the landfill or recycling center.
“ACUA employees take pride in their work to handle solid waste and recycling for our community,” said ACUA President Rick Dovey. “It is dirty, and sometimes dangerous, work that often goes unnoticed. This week is an opportunity to bring attention to the important work they do every day.”
Community members are invited to leave a note for their collection team using ACUA’s online form found at
www.acua.com/thankyou, or by attaching a note to their curbside collection bins from June 12 through June 23. Video messages will also be accepted and can be sent to ACUA’s Authority Relations team at
ar@acua.com.
ACUA also reminds the community to please SLOW DOWN to get around sanitation trucks to protect workers on the road. When approaching a garbage or recycling collection truck, NJ Law requires that drivers slow down, lawfully move one lane over, or stop entirely when necessary.
“A few minutes of patience goes a long way to protect your collection crew,” said Dovey.
