Pinelands Park Landfill
In addition to operating the landfill on Delilah Road in Egg Harbor Township, ACUA also oversees the closed Pinelands Park Landfill on Ocean Heights Avenue in Egg Harbor Township.
Posi-Shell Intermediate Cover
ACUA is installing an intermediate “Posi-Shell” cover to approximately 20 acres of its landfill to help reduce odors and prevent erosion.
Landfill Expansion
ACUA is expanding the life of the landfill in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, with the construction of mechanically stabilized earthen (MSE) berms which wrap around the exterior. The space between the newly constructed berm and the slope of the existing landfill is used as additional space to store solid waste. The project is ongoing and is separated into three phases.
Landfill Odor Control
Organic material like food waste produces a great deal of gas as it decomposes, which can lead to odors. Sulfides and ammonia are the most common sources of odor in landfill gas. ACUA strives to resolve odor issues promptly to prevent discomfort to members of the community. The Authority is committed to keeping landfill odors to a minimum and has many systems and procedures in place to capture and regulate the gases emitted from the landfill.
