    Waste Flow

Atlantic County currently operates under Waste Flow control. This means that waste types 10, 13, 13C, 23, 25 and 27 generated within Atlantic County are legally required to come to the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) transfer station for disposal. ACUA will enforce this ability to direct solid waste flow to its transfer stations.

In August 10, 2012 the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) certified the Waste Flow amendment passed by the Atlantic County Freeholders on February 28, 2012. Click here to view the certification.

Waste flow allows counties to direct trash to their respective facilities. It ensures that Atlantic County’s Waste Management system can operate and serve in a safe, reliable, and cost-efficient manner. Atlantic County municipalities benefit from stable rates and environmentally sound access to solid waste disposal and other services such as recycling, composting, hazardous waste disposal and more.
